Geospatial
Intelligence

We make commodity supply chains visible,
accountable, and understandable

Decision-grade intelligence for governments, investors and organisations navigating high-risk commodity systems from lithium and cobalt to other critical minerals, sand and timber, and beyond

We blend multiple sources of state-of-the-art data to build sophisticated analyses of complex problems that
reveal patterns to support informed decision-making

From assessing the impact of artisanal mining on commercial operations, to tracing how climate stress drives conflict in pastoral systems, to mapping illicit flows across resource corridors

Services & Sectors

We operate as a technical partner, delivering data-as-insight that integrate directly into client outputs
rather than standalone products

Government

For governments, development agencies, and defence actors, we provide early-warning intelligence, governance risk diagnostics, conflict-commodity monitoring, and longitudinal analysis that directly informs stabilisation, security and development policies

Private Sector

We deliver investment due diligence, third-party risk assessment, supply chain mapping, traceability analysis, and impact verification to provide greater certainty for investment decisions and support responsible operation in high-risk contexts

Across all engagements, we maintain focus on upstream and midstream risk,
governance conditions, and supply chain continuity.
We help clients identify risks before they escalate, mitigate exposure through compliance-aligned and operationally relevant intelligence, and discover opportunities in complex commodity environments.

PROFILE & PEOPLE

SaltLines brings together geospatial and data analysts, political and social scientists, climate change experts, IT systems developers and field researchers, all driven by a systemic approach to analysis and problem-solving

Our people have spent years working in conflict zones, extractive frontiers, and governance vacuums, places where reliable data is scarce, stakes are high, and conventional monitoring tools consistently fail. Our backgrounds span satellite image data sciences, investigative research, stabilisation and conflict programming, humanitarian response, and international development policy.

We partner closely with community researchers, civil society organisations, and local analysts who bring essential ground-level expertise. We don’t just process information; we interpret it, applying contextual judgment shaped by direct engagement with the communities and systems we study.

Approach & Advantage

Our work explores challenges where satellite imagery alone tells an incomplete story

We have traced illicit commodity flows through shadow economies, mapped governance fragmentation in active conflict zones, and challenged simplistic narratives by identifying the structural drivers that conventional analysis overlooks.

We integrate satellite image data with field intelligence, not as parallel streams, but as a single interpretive practice, where commodities operate in dynamic, interconnected ecosystems.
We focus on how risk emerges, spreads, and evolves across systems and geographies over time. The result is insight that holds up under scrutiny: spatially precise, politically informed, and grounded in the realities of the systems we study.

We are happy to discuss specific engagements under appropriate confidentiality.

Credibility & Capability

SaltLines Was Established In 2024 With Support From The ESA Business Incubation Centre UK

Our capability and integrity is built on the triangulation of multiple, independent sources of evidence: optical and radar satellite imagery, IoT sensors including bioacoustics devices, trail cameras, and cattle tracking tags, open-source intelligence, and qualitative field research. All sensors are interpreted through our academically led, systems-based methodology.

Our analytical architecture has been developed to meet the governance, transparency, and reproducibility standards expected by institutional clients operating in sensitive environments. We maintain strict data protection protocols aligned with UK and international requirements, with full audit trails across every engagement.

Our team has delivered work across Sub-Saharan, Central and East Africa, the Sahel, Black Sea Region and Central Asia and other conflict-affected regions.

Selected case material can be shared on request, on a confidential and appropriately anonymised basis.
